Employment

A large part of the working population in Suriname is employed on the basis of an employment agreement. Employment law can be found in various labour regulations:

  1. the Suriname Civil Code;
  2. separate Labour laws;
  3. the Personnel Act (Personeelswet) for civil servants (the largest segment of the Surinamese workforce); and
  4. the minimum hourly wages act.

(Suriname is member of the International Labour Organization (I.L.O.)).
