Trust & management companies
According to the National Ordinance on the Supervision of Trust Service Providers the Central Bank supervises the trust companies within Curacao and St. Maarten. Trust companies operating in or from St. Maarten need a license from the Central Bank to conduct their activities.
In order to obtain a license, the applicant must have its registered office and principal place of business in Curacao or St. Maarten and must satisfy the requirements laid down by the Central Bank with respect to:
- Competence and integrity;
- Financial securities; and
- Conduct of business.
Furthermore, once the license has been granted, the trust companies need to continuously comply with directives and policy guidelines for trust companies issued by the Central Bank.
