Trade names

There is no specific law for the BES islands which provides for the protection of a trade name, neither is it legally required to register a trade name with the Trade Register of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Nevertheless, a registration at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is recommendable, as other businesses (in the same sector)[1] are not able to register a trade name that is already registered. Also, the protection of a trade name can, to a large extent, be claimed based on the general law of tort (unlawful act).
