According to the National Ordinance on the Supervision of Trust Service Providers the Central Bank supervises the trust companies within Curaçao and St. Maarten. Trust companies operating in or from Curaçao need a license from the Central Bank of to conduct their activities.

In order to obtain a license, the applicant must have its registered office and principal place of business in Curaçao or St. Maarten and must satisfy the requirements laid down by the Central Bank with respect to:

Competence and integrity;
Financial securities; and
Conduct of business.

Furthermore, once the license has been granted, the trust companies need to continuously comply with directives and policy guidelines for trust companies issued by the Central Bank.
