Hiring requirements

Employees with a foreign nationality require a (temporary) residence and work permit. This permit is obtained by filing an application with the governmental department in question. The cooperation of the employer is required for this process, as the employer will need to vouch for the employee and will need to provide the employee with certain documents that will need to be filed along with the application for the permit. If it is the first residence and work permit the employee must await the obtainment of the permit abroad. The length of this procedure usually takes at least three months. Employing employees without the requisite permit is an offense for the employer and is punishable with a fine or imprisonment of up to six months.
